Maintenance & Recovery

01 // Routine Cleaning

For the average office user or typist, dust is the primary enemy. Over time, debris accumulates under the keycaps, leading to a "mushy" feeling or keys that occasionally fail to register.

The Compressed Air Method

Angle your keyboard at 45 degrees and use short bursts of compressed air to dislodge particles. This is the safest way to maintain your board without disassembly.

02 // Liquid Damage Protocols

If you spill coffee, water, or soda on your keyboard, every second counts. Electronic failure isn't caused by the liquid itself, but by the short circuits created when electricity flows through it.

CRITICAL_STEPS:
  1. Unplug the USB cable immediately.
  2. Flip the keyboard upside down to prevent liquid from reaching the PCB.
  3. Remove keycaps in the affected area and dry with a lint-free towel.
  4. Wait at least 48 hours before plugging it back in.

03 // Fixing Stuck Keys

Are your keys not popping back up? This is usually due to friction in the stem or contamination in the stabilizer. Use the Cytific KB Tester to identify which specific keys are struggling with reset latency.

  • Lubrication: A drop of Krytox 205g0 on the stabilizer wire can fix most rattles and sticking.
  • Switch Replacement: If a single key is persistent, your board may have hot-swap sockets, allowing you to pull the switch and replace it without soldering.
